The tram project took delivery of the first rails for the capital''s tram network today.

The track sections are each 18metres long and fashioned from high quality steel. Preparatory works for tracklaying are already underway in the city, with the main programme of track works estimated to begin in January 2009

The process is likely to continue right up until May 2011 in concert with other critical works for electrification, construction etc.
